Anne Naukkarinen: i found a mouth and fell into it

“i found a mouth and fell into it” is a performance for a restless mouth and voice. A mouth that whispers, bites, vows, cries, sighs, rests, talks, hesitates, licks, laughs, whistles, spits, repeats, mumbles, interrupts, murmurs, pauses, shouts, longs for, sings… The performance is a trial to live with the drama of the mouth and to rearrange memories, fantasies and struggles through voicing and mouthing.

I examined and experimented subjective and collective states of the mouth and voice during my two month long artist-in-residency at COMA, The Center of Multisensory Art in STPLN. Sharing of ”i found a mouth and fell into it” performance ends my residency period at COMA. You are warmly welcome to experience the performance at 7pm on Thursday 21st of March in STPLN.

I’m a choreographer, dancer and visual artist based in Helsinki. I work as a solo-artist and collaborate with other artists and people across different mediums e.g. performances, installations, publications and sound works. I graduated from the Department of Dance (BA), Theatre Academy of Helsinki 2015 and during the year 2014 I studied at the Department of Dance, choreography and context in the Universität der Künste Berlin, Germany. At the moment I’m finishing my studies in the Department of Time and Space (MA), Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki.
