Anne Naukkarinen: i found a mouth and fell into it

“i found a mouth and fell into it” is a performance for a restless mouth and voice. A mouth that whispers, bites, vows, cries, sighs, rests, talks, hesitates, licks, laughs, whistles, spits, repeats, mumbles, interrupts, murmurs, pauses, shouts, longs for, sings… The performance is a trial to live with the drama of the mouth and to rearrange memories, fantasies and struggles through voicing and mouthing.

Scene as a Cast (Day 2)

An installation in six acts.

A project Emelie Carlén has worked on during her time at the COMA artist-in-residence at STPLN, Malmö.

The installation explores the theme of social alienation together with six invited artists and musicians who each conduct an act to the scene.

The installation is open on the 25th and the 26th of January.

The Center Of Multisensory Art (COMA) is a space dedicated to the exploration and experimentation of the forgotten senses. Breaking away from visual culture, it is an opportunity to redefine the things we feel and the way we feel them.

In between October 2018 and April 2019, three artists from the Baltics and Nordics are invited to develop concepts based around these notions for two months each. Selected artists will live in Malmö, Sweden and have a workspace at STPLN : a shared creative workshop, studio and makerspace.

Artist in Residence #3

Anne Naukkarinen is a Helsinki-based artist working in the fields of dance, performance and visual arts. Her performances often consider the kinaesthetic empathy and the silent knowledge which is there to be sensed and somehow becoming but not ready to grasp with words. At COMA, she will examine the poetics and politics of the mouth and voice. This will culminate in a workshop for 8/10 people and a final performance.
